Epilogue: Three Months Later (Alkan) - Fated to the Night King
By Krysta Fox
I waited in the garden, the full moon above pouring out its light, and the aurora a waving ribbon of colors along the edge of the mountain. The scent of Night Roses filled the air. This was Sena’s favorite place.
It was mine, too.
A grey wolf padded into view, muzzle lifted, and I held still.
She was as beautiful as I’d imagined.
Her fur was tipped in silver, and she was lithe, graceful, like she already understood this new form. She sat down on her haunches, examining me, and I hoped this part of her still found me appealing. Her nostrils twitched.
“Do I smell bad to you, little spy?” The wolf shook her head, cocking it to the side in a studious posture. “I can wait all night, Sena. When you’re ready, I’m here.”
She lay in the grass, testing the texture, then rolled onto her back and wiggled back and forth.
Finally, though, she made her way to me and dipped her head under my head.
I stroked along her back, and she closed her eyes in what struck me as a canine look of bliss.
“You’re beautiful, Sena. Perfect in every way, ey ruhum.”
She turned her head, licked my hand, then dropped down onto her belly. She laid her head in my lap and we sat there for a while. Enjoying the garden. Enjoying the night.
And when she was ready, she shifted once more into the woman I loved, and I showed her the depth of my need for her there.
Under the stars. Guarded by the moon.
Together. Forever.
