Book Two: Su Boleto Al Cielo - Day 2 - The Pink Cadillac
By Rebecca Harlem
“Dear, Mr. Mavros, can we attend my funeral?” This was the first question Fiona asked Adam after waking up on the second day. Adam was surprised when he heard that.
“Fiona, I asked you if you wanted to attend your funeral as we were about to land on Earth. And you said no.”
“I understand. But things have become considerably more complicated. I’m curious to find out which of these two bastards was there and if they were grieved by my demise.”
“When I asked you earlier, it was during the time that that thing was happening. But now we must go back in time. That is not something I would advise.”
“Why? What’s the harm in going back in time?”
“If we travel back in time and then return to the present, it will not be the same day. I mean to say that whether you stay in the past for a few minutes or several hours, we will return at the same time the next day. Another day will be lost, which is why I don’t recommend it because your first day was also squandered.”
Fiona paused for a moment. Adam was correct. She only had four days left on Earth. But who knew if she devoted all four remaining days to her work she would still achieve that state. But she was determined to solve the puzzle at any cost. So she stated emphatically, “Don’t worry. Let’s do it.”
Adam took Fiona’s left hand in his and instructed her to close her eyes. She did exactly what she was told. When she opened her eyes again, she was seated on a tree branch with Adam in St. John Cemetery. Her funeral was taking place. Her initial focus was on her parents, who were looking very sad. When she saw them, she was deeply depressed. Then she started looking around. She recognized a lot of people. Every eye was filled with tears. Her eyes began to look about for someone. She had no idea that she was about to experience another tremendous shock. Chad Brown was there, she noticed. Someone was soothing him by patting him on his shoulder while he was crying. Fiona cast a cautious glance in that direction. Rick was the other man. It was a mind-blowing event for her to witness. How did they become acquainted? Did they realize they were both banging the same girl? What were they up to with her? And what was the story with Liza? Was the same thing happening to Liza? She felt she was cheating on them, but they were both making fun of her. Fiona’s mind was racing with all of these ideas. Darkness descended before her eyes, and the surroundings started to turn colorful again. Her legs began to tremble. She was in no condition to be there any longer. As a result, she informed Adam that she needed to leave immediately.
