Author’s Note - Purrfect Valentine
By Carina Walsh
This is a romcom. There will be banter, chaos, and enthusiastic use of the word fuck—both as an expletive and a verb.
But there's also a sick kitten.
FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) is a real virus that affects over 15,000 cats in the U.S. every year. Until recently, it was considered fatal. The treatment in this book—GS-441524—is real, and it's saving lives. I did my best to portray it accurately, but I'm a romance author, not a veterinarian. If your cat shows symptoms, please see an actual professional and not a woman who once googled "can cats be dramatic on purpose" at 2am.
Additionally, this story briefly touches on passive suicidal ideation (a character imagines, for a moment, following a rock over a cliff—he doesn't act on it, but the thought exists for a moment). It also includes an emotionally manipulative ex-girlfriend whose behavior may resonate with those who've experienced similar relationships.
If you're struggling, please reach out to some you trust. You matter more than you know.
Now. On to the dick jokes and the cat who rides a Saint Bernard.
