Acknowledgments - Entities to Lovers
By Mallory Marlowe
Entities to Lovers has been the hardest book of my career so far. It’s the product of a lot of discarded drafts, scribbled-out notes, hair-pulling, and tears. Despite the challenges I faced in working on this book, I’m so proud of all it taught me and the story it grew into. More than any other book so far, I am truly grateful for everyone who helped turn this one into something magical.
Mary—I can never thank you enough for believing in me and Entities to Lovers on the hardest days and for guiding the story so beautifully. Your generosity and genius live in every page and it truly would have never shined without your help and support. I could not ask for a better editor.
Thank you to my splendid agent, Jessica Mileo. I’m so thrilled to have you on this journey and I can’t wait for all the wonderful stories we’ll get to tell together.
To the rest of my team at Berkley, including Yazmine Hassan, Elisha Katz, and Kalie Barnes-Young—you guys continue to work magic on my books and I’m endlessly grateful for all the hard work you put in. Thank you to Vikki Chu and the Berkley art department for another stunning cover. Once again, I’m truly blown away! Special thanks to copyeditor Sheila Moody and proofreader Pam Feinstein.
I owe everything to my family, who have always supported my love of all things books and paranormal, as well as being my biggest fans. Thank you for also taking me on so many ghost tours in cities across the country, buying me all those books about famous ghost stories, and always letting me be my own brand of weird. Love you all so much.
Maria—I would not have made it through this process without you. You listened to so many brainstorming, crying, and panic sessions throughout the course of this book and have the patience of a saint. Having such a wonderful best friend to keep me steady when things felt so rocky made all the difference. I don’t know if I would have believed it if you told me on our first day of college that we’d be taking over the M shelf in the romance section at the bookstore, but I’m eternally glad to be on this ride with you.
Thank you to Laura and Nicole, who always believe in me, even when I struggle to do it myself. I can’t imagine writing books without your kindness, friendship, and support. I’ll forever be glad I took the risk and signed up for a CP group through a podcast, of all places.
I’m so lucky to have a wonderful group of close writer friends—Dallas, Nikki, Carmen, and Audrey—who are the most supportive, caring, and hilarious bunch. Thank you for always blowing up my group chats when I’m in meetings, being the first people to read my finished products, and partaking in the wild journey that is publishing. My Ghost Lovers, Rebekah Faubion and Carlyn Greenwald, thank you for your friendship, adventures, and magic this past year. It truly meant the world.
Thank you to the Cryptid Corner Street Team and all the support you’ve shown and spread leading up to this book. I cannot believe I’m lucky enough to have readers who not only love my stories but want to help me share them with the world. You guys are the true MVPs.
One of the greatest joys in becoming an author has been the long-distance, digital relationships I’ve formed over the years with other authors. Thank you to the ever wonderful Berkletes and members of the TTWD Discord.
Thank you to the supremely talented authors who offered such kind words on Entities to Lovers. I will forever be in awe that I get to call you my peers.
I’m sending so much gratitude to the wonderful booksellers and librarians who put not just my books on shelves, but books everywhere. We live in such turbulent, scary times, but I’m so grateful the world has you to encourage people to keep reading and keep their minds open.
Last, but never, ever least—to my readers. You make everything worth it, even the hardest days. Thank you for picking up my books, sharing your joy, telling me your stories, and being the reason I get to do what I do. I’ve had the time of my life meeting you all at events, interacting with you in DMs, and seeing your eager, creative, and wonderful posts. I hope Rory and Ezra bring you as much happiness as they bring me. Thank you thank you thank you.
