Acknowledgments - Twisted Vows
By I. V. Marie
When my agents first let me know that Delacorte had approached them about doing a Souls of Blackwood Academy novella, I truly jumped for joy (like I think I literally jumped up in the air and screamed). It had definitely been sad to have to say goodbye to these characters after spending the past three years of my life in their heads, and this book allowed me to pop back into Blackwood Academy—one last time.
Forever thankful for my family first: My parents. My siblings. My grandpa. All the other relatives who have continued to endlessly support me since the first book—I love you all!
I also have to mention that by the time this book comes out, I will be a WIFE (still feels very strange and adult, but here we are). This book comes out three days after my wedding, so it feels only fitting to dedicate this book to my wonderful, funny, endlessly patient and annoyingly smart fiancé (and I guess, when this book comes out, HUSBAND?!?). Josh. This is a big year for us. A year of change and big steps and lots of adjustment. We’re moving across the fricken country at the same time as planning a wedding (honestly, we’re kind of nuts for that). But I’m so grateful that I get to experience this chaotic life with you by my side. I love you, mister!
To my guardian angels, Ariele Fredman and Gwen Beal, aka the best agents in the game. Feels so wild to think about where we started. And now look at us! Three books under our belts. And it’s only the beginning. And thanks to Elsa Knoke and Graham Weist for their support and skills! Many thanks to my team over at Curtis Brown UK, specifically Steph Thwaites and Grace Robinson, for everything they do for my books. And, of course, thank you to Savanna Wicks for continuing to champion all my books everywhere else in the world!
To Lydia Gregovic, my tireless champion and the best editor a girl could ask for! As always, it is with your notes and expertise that all of these books were able to soar, and I am so thankful that this is just the beginning for us! A massive thank-you to the rest of my incredible team at Random House Children’s Books—how did I get so lucky? Thank you to Wendy Loggia, Krista Marino, Noreen Herits, Madison Furr, Constance Inglima, Kristin Guy, Gabriella Murdoch, Colleen Fellingham, Barbara Perris, Liz Dresner, Ray Shappell, Tracy Heydweiller, Judith Haut and Gillian Levinson.
Also . . . a moment for the cover art! A big thank you to Abel, aka @superstarfighter, for not one, not two, but THREE perfect covers. I am so grateful we got to work together for this series. You truly blow me away with every cover, and I’m so thankful for your talent.
So much love and thanks to my UK team over at Electric Monkey for championing this entire series across the pond. I really do feel like I’ve won the lotto with you all! Getting to visit last year and meet readers was such a blast. Thank you to Lindsey Heaven and Sarah Levison. Another big thanks to Ryan Hammond, Lucy Courtenay, Sophie Porteous, Olivia Carson, Sarah Sleath, Hannah Penny, Ingrid Gilmore and Leah Woods.
To my friends for always being my number one fans. You all make me feel so loved and supported, and I am so grateful for you all!
Extra shout-out to Veronica Bane—GIRL. I don’t think I know how to write without you lmao. Thank you for endless Zoom writing sessions and coffee shop dates. Don’t think you’re getting rid of me just because I’m moving across the country. YOU’RE STUCK WITH ME FOREVER!
Always have to end these by thanking my dog, Mr. Darcy. I love my dog a concerning amount, and he keeps me company while I write and cry and disassociate staring vacantly at the wall, so really, he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
And last but NEVER least—my readers. It is because of you that this novella was possible. It is because of you that ANY of this is possible. Thank you so much for your posts, shares, and endless support. However you ended up with this book in your hands, I am forever grateful that it found its way to you. Here’s to many more together!
All my love, forever and ever and ever.
