First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all my readers. Your choice to pick up my book and invest your time in Lucille’s story means the world to me.
This story began as something entirely different when I first dreamed of writing it at nineteen. Reflecting on the early drafts, with ideas that were abandoned, characters that were removed, and scenes that were cut, I’m proud of how it has evolved into what it is today.
Over the years, I worked on it intermittently, but it wasn’t until recent years that I committed myself to becoming an author and pursuing writing as a career. Through countless hours of effort, research, and dedication, this book has become something I’m truly proud of. Your support in picking up this book is helping me achieve my dreams.
Second, to my fiancé for believing in my dream and supporting me throughout this journey. You’ve been incredibly accommodating with my long writing hours during our busy life, and your reminders to eat and take breaks when I push myself too hard mean so much to me. I love your unwavering faith, especially when imposter syndrome kicks in and I second guess everything I’m doing. You are my best friend, and I couldn’t have done this without you.
Third, to my hardworking parents, thank you for instilling in me the drive to work tirelessly on this story. Balancing life, a full-time job, and working on my book from morning till night on weekends has been a relentless journey. Your dedication and work ethic have been a profound inspiration, and I’m grateful for the qualities you’ve passed down to me.
Lastly, to all the amazing people I’ve met along this journey who have helped me and who I’ve built relationships with. I don’t think I would’ve ended up where I am without you. It all started when I joined a writing critique group called New Authors Unite. I have met so many wonderful individuals who have been incredible sounding boards and sources of support. I remember being nervous about joining the group, but I’m immensely grateful that I did. Thank you to each and every one of you for being a part of this journey!
