It takes a village, especially when the author is spending at least a week looking at the news, shrieking, and taking to her bed like she lives in a Victorian melodrama. For those and other reasons, I’d like to thank my housemates, K. Tornheim and Adam Stilgoe; my parents, Daniel and Kathleen Kunkle; my sister, Emily Crowley Kunkle Gell; and my mentor, Professor Robert Mathiesen. I’d also like to thank my friends David and Hillary Chapin for LARP plot–based inspiration for characters, also David for replying with “have one of them notice the other’s wounds” when I mentioned in the group chat that I didn’t know how to move from action to sex, and Katie Taft for much inspiration and romantasy fan chatting.
