622–650 CE – After the rise of Islam Islam began in Arabia in the 7th century. Arab traders were already sailing to the western coast of India (Kerala, Gujarat) for trade. After converting to Islam, these traders continued visiting India. These were peaceful trade contacts, not invasions. Some local people converted to Islam through trade and interaction. 📍 Muslims first came to India mainly as traders, not conquerors.
