Martyr or Murderer: Jens Soering, the Media, and the Truth

In 1985, the brutal double murder of Derek and Nancy Haysom shocked Virginia and launched one of the most sensational international criminal cases of the late 20th century. Decades later, convicted double murderer Jens Söring orchestrated an audacious public relations campaign that convinced high-profile celebrities, German politicians, and international journalists of his innocence. In Martyr or Murderer, lawyer and investigative journalist Andrew Hammel conducts a forensic, meticulous dismantling of Söring’s narrative—analyzing blood evidence, courtroom cross-examinations, and media manipulation to reveal the unvarnished truth.
